December 1st – 4th, 2015: A delegation of Nha Trang University led by Dr. Khong Trung Thang - Vice Rector of Nha Trang University attended the 5th International Fisheries Symposium (IFS) 2015 “Towards Sustainability, Advanced Technology and Community Enhancement” in Penang, Malaysia.

International Fisheries Symposium is an annual program under ASEAN-FEN consortia, which is a team of university-based representing the fisheries and aquaculture oriented institutions within the Southeast Asia region for the purpose of supporting and enhancing the fisheries and aquaculture through education, research, and public outreach in the region. The ASEAN-FEN supports and facilitates the activities of educators, scientists, and agencies responding to local, regional, national, and international issues on fisheries and aquaculture. This symposium is a wonderful opportunity for students, scientists, technicians, businessmen, and managers from the South- East Asian countries and from the worldwide countries to gather and to share knowledge and information on Aquaculture and Fisheries Science and Technology. At the symposium, the NTU’s lecturers presented 7 reports.

Within the framework of the symposium, Nha Trang University signed a memorandum of joining ASEAN-FEN consortia. The consortia has 16 members from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The 6th IFS conference will be held in Vietnam in 2016 co-hosted by Nha Trang University, Can Tho University, University of Agriculture and Forestry and Hue University.
