Manufacture of automatic hand sanitizer dispenser to help prevent Covid-19 pandemic

In order to support the University’s staff members and students to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, lecturers and students of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Club (under the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) of Nha Trang University manufactured an automatic hand sanitizer dispenser. They have installed it on campus.

This is an initiative of Dr. Nguyen Van Hoa (Director of Center for Experimens and Practices), then implemented by Dr. Bui Thuc Minh (Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) together with his two students: Vo Tai Loc and Dinh Quyet Thanh.

The hand sanitizer dispenser works automatically. When users put their hands into the machine, the sensor will recognize and activate disinfectant water to automatically flow. Users do not need to touch anywhere on the device, thereby making the hand washing process safer, minimizing the possibility of infection. Another advantage of this device is its compact size, especially not using power from the electricity grid, but using a rechargeable battery power. With its high flexibility, the device can be installed in many locations within the University’s campus.

The research ideas initiated from the end of March 2020, when the situation of Covid-19 pandemic happened more complicatedly. After nearly a week, the research group completed to manufacture the device and installed it in the campus where many persons pass by. “The group's desire is to create  a safe device for everyone to use, not only during the Covid-19 pandemic but also later, and can be conveniently installed in every home. Moreover, through these activities, students of electrical and electronic engineering in particular and students of engineering majors in general will have the opportunity to do research and create useful products for society. ” - Dr. Bui Thuc Minh shared.

In addition to the automatic hand sanitizer dispenser, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Club has implemented many models that can be applied into practice such as the Smart home electric control system, CNC engraving machine, Solar power ... On every Saturday at the 1st floor, G1 lecture Building, the Club brings a healthy playground to interact and connect students, thereby assisting students to implement their ideas and develop job skills.
