CAMPUS
 

  Located in the most beautiful coastal city of Vietnam, surrounded by one of the most beautiful bays in the world - Nha Trang Bay, Nha Trang University (NTU) main campus has the best location in comparison with the other universities in Vietnam. In addition to the main campus of 20 hectares, NTU has a number of facilities in other places such as Cam Ranh Aquaculture Farm for Experimental Saltwater, Ninh Phung Farm for Experimental Freshwater, Phuoc Dong Ship Yard and Kien Giang Branch with an area of 50 ha.


 

 




 
  FACILITIES

Currently, NTU has eight lecture buildings with the total of 120 classrooms, of which 100% have been equipped with modern teaching facilities. These facilities are eligible to host seminars, international conferences and online video conferences. NTU has 120 rooms covering an area of 15,000 m2, capable of providing 6,000 seats for students simultaneously. NTU possesses 50 laboratories covering a wide range of fields such as chemistry, experimental biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, marine fishing gears, ship engines, marine and navigation, food technology, refrigeration engineering and manufacturing. All are equipped with modern equipment capable of serving students and researchers to conduct and implement research projects at all levels. 


   LIBRARY
 

  NTU’s Library is comprised of 3 buildings including 7 reading rooms with a total of 1,000 seats, 2 storehouses for books and journal rooms for access to the Internet and multimedia database.  
   
       
The Library has a vast array of materials and resources including 18,000 different titles (46,000 copies) of which 23,000 are in foreign languages. Nearly 3,500 theses and 300 types of national and international newspapers, journals and magazines are available. The Library also has an electronic database of 4,000 books and hundreds of thousands of copyrighted references available by online link. Information resources are updated annually with 2,000 new titles (5,000 copies). 
 
 

 CANTEEN
 

NTU canteen is a 4 story-building. It comprises of 4 areas: dinning house, drink and refreshment, mini market and entertainment. In addition to serving students and staff daily, NTU canteen also serves lunch, dinner as a standard restaurant for many important events such as international seminars, conferences, birthdays and anniversaries.

 
 
DORMITORIES 
 
NTU has 10 dormitory buildings with 1,000 rooms, housing over 5,000 students. Those include Undergraduate Dormitory, Graduate Dormitory, and Dormitory for outstanding students. All dormitories are well-equipped and located inside the main campus. Students can reach dormitories by walking from any of the buildings on campus. It also has subsidiary facilities such as cafeterias, laundry rooms, study room, indoor and outdoor stadium and gymnasium, a table tennis room, and common rooms, Wifi and Internet are provided freely at all dormitories and buildings in campus.  
 
BANKING
 
Foreigners can easily open a savings account in VND (Vietnamese currency unit) with small deposit. Students also can open a bank account in foreign currency (i.e. USD) but has to deposit, a minimum of US $ 1,000). A valid passport, a deposit and certificate of admission are among the documents required to open an account. ATMs are located on the campus, easy and convenient to use any time. ATMs are also plentiful in cities and throughout the country. All the bank branches and ATMs usually have English language. 
 
  ATMs accept major international credit cards such as American Express, Visa and MasterCard. ATM cards can be used at all ATM stations of different banks. Living expenses expect to spend about 6,000,000 to 10,000,000 VND ($300 – 500) per month for living expenses, including accommodation. Prices vary widely and living costs depend largely on whether one shops in cheap markets or city shopping malls, eats at home, at street stalls or fancy restaurants, etc.  

   TRANSPORTATION

  Transportation options in Nha Trang are very convenient including buses, taxis, trains, motorcycle taxis etc. The road traffic is not too busy (except holidays), transportation is easy to find and inexpensive. 

City Buses 

Several different types of buses in Nha Trang include white-blue buses (6,000 VND each ride); city buses are cheap and suitable for city tours. Bus operates regularly from 5am to 7pm. Bus from Cam Ranh airport to Nha Trang city is 70,000 VND. 

Trains 

Nha Trang train station is one of the main stations of Vietnam Railway. All trains from the North (Ha Noi) to the South (Ho Chi Minh city) stop at Nha Trang Station which is 3,5km far from NTU. 

 
 
Taxis

Taxis in Nha Trang are plentiful, cheap by international standards, and most are pleasantly air-conditioned.  Most drivers use the legally required meter, but some might negotiate a fixed price for a long journey (i.e. taxi fares from Nha Trang city to Cam Ranh Airport vary from 300,000 to 380,000 VND). Fares start at 12,000 VND for opening and increasing at a rate of 10,000 VND per kilometre. At night when traffic is light, taxis are definitely the quickest means of transport.  Note that tipping is not normal practice in Nha Trang.  Generally speaking taxi drivers in Nha Trang speak English well. 

 
  Motorcycle Taxis 

Motorcycle taxis are “more economical” for students and available any time.  They are generally used for short distances in areas without heavy traffic. Be sure to agree on a negotiable fare with the driver before setting off. Students can rent a motorcycle taxi for picnic which usually cost 100,000 VND per day. To rent a motorcycle taxi, renter has to deposit their ID or student card.  

 
 

STUDENT CLUBS

There are over 50 student clubs and organizations that are affiliated with NTU. These include sports, kung fu, cultural gatherings, arts, and out-door activities. Students also can participate in various student activities organized by the Student Association and Youth Union. Participation in these clubs and activities is the best way to make friends, develop responsibilities, and refine leadership qualities. This will enable you to grow and learn from new experiences around campus. 

 

  RECREATION FACILITIES 

  Gymnasium

NTU gymnasium is a complex sports area. It comprises of an in-door stadium with 800 seat-stand for football, and two grounds for volley balls and basketball players. Students and faculties can come and enjoy their favourite sports at any time of the day. Many important events such as national sports competitions, NTU anniversary day, Vietnamese teacher’s day took place at the gymnasium.
 
Stadium
 
  A new standard out-door stadium has been recently completed with the artificial grass. With a stand of 5000 seats, the stadium will be an attractive venue for important sports events, not only for students and staff at NTU but also for professional sport players in Khanh Hoa province and other south-central provinces.
